Chatsworth Country Fair...

What a superb weekend we have had sponsoring the gundog events at the Chatsworth Country Fair, which was held at the prestigious Chatsworth Estate by kind permission of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire between the 1st and 3rd September.

The Gundog Special Open Working Test was held on the Friday of Chatsworth Country Fair and was instigated when the fair became a 3 day event in 2007. It is open to individual handlers and limited to 24 dogs and held under Kennel Club rules. The winner was Roz Mcilroy with Automwillow Scout (Bolt).

The final results were as follows:

1st Roz Mcilroy 2nd Nicola Reynolds 3rd Paul Hasney 4th Victoria Stanley

The Chatsworth Country Fair Inter Team Working Test was held on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd September. The top five teams in last year's competition, along with a further eight competed to be awarded the Chatsworth Country Fair Challenge Trophy. The competition was extremely close between the top two teams, with only a point between them after the last retrieve.

The final results were as follows: 1st Pennine Training Area of the Northern Golden Retriever Association - Gary Collier, Scott Marland & Roz Mcilroy 2nd Northumberland and Durham Labrador Retriever Club - Lee Hartis, Andrew Latham & Russell Hodgen 3rd Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club - Victoria Stanley, Andrew Slingsby & John Cardno 4th North West Labrador Retriever Club - Nathan Laffy, Annette Clarke & Peter Thompson 5th United Retriever Club (Lincolnshire Area) - Mike Birchall, Charles Albone & Chris Johnson

Members of the top two teams were awarded 15kg of WuffitMix Active Plus Salmon, a WuffitMix feed storage bucket and lanyard each. Members of the teams placed 3rd to 5th were awarded 15kg of WuffitMix Active Worker with Chicken & Rice, a WuffitMix feed storage bucket and a lanyard each.

Best Individual and winner of the Staindrop Challenge Trophy - Gary Collier with Thornyoaks Tanzanite.

After a lovely speech from Joan Hayes, the awards were presented at the Gundog HQ tent by the Duchess of Devonshire. Special thanks were given to the gundog event organisers - Philip Smithies, Joan Hayes, Bronwyn Roberts and their team - along with the judges, dummy throwers, commentators and all other helpers.

Official photos of the gundog events and the winning teams will be available soon at Watersplash Photography.
